Colleagues from Simon Fraser University (SFU), Canada visited CSE Department

The director of the School of Engineering Science, SFU , Prof. Mehrdad Saif together with other two professors first visited the control engineering lab and the robotic lab here at CSE, and were impressed by the academic accomplishments developed in those laboratories, especially the robot soccer teams and the robot “Haibao” for the 2010 world Expo Shanghai.

After the brief tour of the laboratories, the SFU colleagues had a joint meeting with the department administrations and faculties. During the meeting, the possibilities of two parties having in-depth collaborations in both graduate and undergraduate level educations and research were discussed. Prof. Zhang Guangxin and Prof. Mehrdad Saif led the introductions of current education, research, and faculty status for each party, followed by discussions of possible future collaboration. Both parties showed great intentions towards the partnership. Administrative details concerning the collaboration were also discussed. Both parties agreed to start the partnership with undergraduate duel-degree program and gradually expand the collaboration to the graduate level, together with academic exchanges for faculty members from both sides. Further meetings and visits were arranged to consolidate the future partnership between two parties.
