Target audiences: Senior undergraduates, graduates and automation professionals.
The primary objective of this short course is to provide the audience with an introduction to the subjects of modern process data analytics and machine learning. Data analytics/machine learning has become one of the most studied subjects in the control engineering community, attracting significant research and application interest. In this short course, we will discuss several advanced topics related to data analytics and machine learning. Upon completion of this short course, the audiences should have gained fundamental knowledge about data analytics and machine learning along with their applications. While most of the presentations are in an introductory nature, some of them will be elaborated in more depth (labelled as “in-depth”). Depending on available time and comprehension of the audience, we will cover some or all of the following topics:
• Feature extractions
• Just-in-time learning
• Bayesian learning
• Deep learning
• Reinforcement learning
• Expectation Maximization inference (in-depth)
• Variational Bayesian inference (in-depth)
